Featuring two large-scale pieces by composer Andrew McIntosh, Hyenas in the Temples of Pleasure is the first full-length album of his works. The centerpiece of the album is a quartet for 2 pianists and 2 percussionists combining conventional and custom-built instruments, commissioned and performed by New York-based group Yarn/Wire. The rest of the album consists of the Symmetry Etudes, a book of eight pieces for two clarinets and violin heard here for the first time in their entirety, written for and performed by James Sullivan, Brian Walsh, and Andrew McIntosh.

Had the pleasure of attending Andy Lee's performance world premiere of "pianist, alone (2)" at CalArts in September 2013. Hearing it again now, it re-strikes me as uniquely, if quietly, stunning. Man music mechanism: all engaged in a pure probing of sonic possibility. Essential, restrained, ultimately rapturous. George Wallace
Through churning dynamics and elongated, arc-like melodies, clarinetist Joanna Nicholson casts a hypnotizing modern classical spell. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 2, 2022
